U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) announced Wednesday that he will not seek reelection.

The message signals a likely end to his political career, which kicked off in 1994.

“Frankly, it’s time for a new generation of leaders,” the 76-year-old Republican said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “They’re the ones that need to make the decisions that will shape the world they will be living in.”
